Gene McNary was an attorney practicing immigration law in 1998 when he bought this house. He was St. Louis County Executive from 1975 to 1989. McNary was appointed Commissioner of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service in 1989 by President George H.W. Bush.

Regional advocate/businessman lived here

Joe Edwards, owner of the landmark University City restaurant Blueberry Hill grew up in this house. He opened the Loop district restaurant in 1972 and is widely credited for the revitalization of the district and surrounding community. Edwards opened the Moonrise Hotel in 2009.
