Lawyer sells to mortgage banker for $1.2M in Clayton

Thomas C. Erb and his wife, Tracy Tretiak, sold their four-bedroom, 4.5 bath at 144 N. Bemiston Ave. in Clayton for $1.2 million to H. John Frank Jr. and his wife, Jan Frank, on Sept. 21.

Erb and Tretiak paid $575,000 for the house in June 1997. It was remodeled in 2005.

Barbara Wulfing of Janet McAfee Inc. real estate was the agent for the sale. The home was listed for $1.69 million when it appeared on the market in April.

Erb is a corporate attorney specializing in mergers and acquisitions for statewide law firm Lewis, Rice and Fingerish L.C. He also works in securities, banking and financial law for the firm.

He has served the State Supreme Courts of Missouri and Illinois and was listed in the Missouri and Kansas Super Lawyers and The Best Lawyers in America in 2007.

He earned his J.D. from the Washington University School of Law (1979) and his bachelor's in Accountancy from the University of Illinois (1976).

Mr. Frank has worked as a mortgage banker for McBride and Son Mortgage, LLC, and president at Paramount Mortgage.

Clayton home sales have dropped 24 percent through September 2007 vs. the same period in 2006. The median price over that time period, however, has risen $102,000 from $498,000 in 2006 to $600,000 so far this year.

Median sales prices have risen steadily in Clayton since 2002, according to BlockShopper Metrics.
