Robert V. Vitale bought a three-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 7831 Lafon Place in University City from Mark Mulder for $810,000 on Feb. 5.

Mulder paid $825,000 for the property in May 2007. The 2,892-square-foot home, built in 2002, was listed for $875,000.

Vitale is the co-founder of Banyan Capital Group LLC, an investment company based in St. Louis. He is also a principal at Westgate Group, LLC, a St. Louis-based private equity firm.

He formerly served as an executive at Boatmen's Bancshares Inc. and as a senior associate at KPMG Peat Marwick, where he focused on merger and acquisition engagements.

There were 760 sales in University City in 2008, with a median price of $139,163.
