Walter J. Jocketty and his wife, Susan, have listed for sale a four-bedroom, six-bath home at 1210 Lay Road in Richmond Heights for $2.45 million.
The Jockettys acquired the property for $2,103,865 in April 2005. The 7,146-square-foot house was built in 2004.
Jocketty is the general manager of the Cincinnati Reds, a position he assumed in April of 2008. Previously, he was general manager of the St. Louis Cardinals.
He began his career in baseball in 1980 as the director of minor league operations and scouting for the Oakland Athletics. He also served as director of baseball administration with the Athletics before he became the assistant general manager of the Colorado Rockies for the 1994 season.
Jocketty was hired as the general manager of the Cardinals in Oct. 1994 and over the next 13 seasons led the team through one of their most prosperous periods. The team won six National League Central Division championships (1996, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006), two National League Championships (2004 and 2006), and one World Series Championship (2006). The Cardinals had seven straight winning seasons under Jocketty, including 100-plus win seasons in 2004 and 2005.
He has been named the Major League Baseball's Executive of the Year twice, in 2000 and 2004.
There were 144 home sales in Richmond Heights in 2008, with a median sales price of $174,500.
