Dr. Lisa Cannada and Jeff Cannada bought a four-bedroom, four-bath home at 8149 Pershing Ave. in Clayton from St. Louis Development Co. for $1.375 million on March 24.

St Louis Development Co. paid $442,000 for Unit #200 in Sept. 2007. The 1,907-square-foot house, which was built in 1939, is in the Clayton Gardens neighborhood.

Dr. Cannada is an associate professor at the St. Louis University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. She also serves as an orthopaedic traumatologist at St. Louis University Hospital and St. John’s Mercy Medical Center.

Prior to that, she held several medical positions such as chief of orthopaedic trauma at Grady Memorial Hospital, assistant professor in orthopedic surgery at Emory University and resident physician in orthopaedic surgery at the University Hospitals of Cleveland and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.

She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, her M.S. in exercise and sports sciences from the University of Arizona and her B.S. in health education from Ohio University.

There were 184 home sales in Clayton in 2008, with a median sales price of $487,538.
