Derick C. Albers and his wife, Melissa, bought a three-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 8154 Stanford Ave. in University City from Martin and Katarina Staples for $400,000 on April 13.

The Staples bought the property for $307,500 in Feb. 2001. The 2,166-square-foot house, which was built in 1936, is in the neighborhood of Brittany Wood.

Mr. Albers is an associate lawyer with Lewis, Rice & Fingersh in St. Louis.

He received his B.S. and M.P.A. from the University of Nebraska. He obtained his J.D. from Washington University.

There were 718 home sales in University City in 2008, with a median sales price of $150,000.
