Washington U. professor buys in University City

Dr. Viktor Gruev and his wife, Marta, bought a three-bedroom, 1.5-bath home at 7445 Kingsbury Blvd. in University City from Michael and Caryn Lutsky for $394,950 on April 20.

Mr. Lutsky paid $218,500 for the property in June 2001. The 1,798-square-foot house, which was built in 1927, is in the neighborhood of Alta Dena.

Dr. Gruev is an assistant professor at Washington University in St. Louis. He began his career as post doctoral researcher in the Department of Electrical and Systems Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania before he joined the school's Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

He received his B.S. from Southern Illinois University in 1997 and his M.S. and Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University.

There were 716 sales in University City in 2008, with a median sales price of $150,000.
