Dr. Edmund Y. Yang and his wife, Laurie J. Hauber, bought a five-bedroom, 3.5-bath home at 6814 Waterman Ave. in University City from Karen Lorenzini for $775,000 on May 1.
Lorenzini bought the property for $720,000 in July 2006. The 3,247-square-foot house, which was built in 1920, is in the neighborhood of University City South.
Dr. Yang is a pediatric general surgeon at SSM Cardinal Glennon Children’s Medical Center in St. Louis.
He earned his medical degree and Ph.D. in cell biology from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency at the University of California, and his fellowship in pediatric surgery at Children’s Hospital Boston.
Ms. Hauber is an assistant professor of law at the Vanderbilt University School of Law and the founder of the school’s Community & Economic Development Clinic, through which students provide legal services to non-profit organizations. Prior to joining Vanderbilt Law School, she founded and directed the Economic Justice Project of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights in Boston and she practiced corporate law with Colley Godward in San Francisco.
She graduated from Harvard University and obtained her law degree in 1997 from Boston College.
There were 720 home sales in University City in 2008, with a median sales price of $150,000.
