J. Patrick Mulcahy and Elizabeth Mulcahy bought a four-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 7851 Cornell Ave. in University City from Demian and Sonia Betz for $427,500 on April 28.

The Betzes bought the property for $430,000 in July 2008. The 2,045-square-foot house, which was built in 1935, is in the neighborhood of University City Central.

Mr. Mulcahy has served as chairman of the board of Energizer Holdings Inc. in St. Louis. He has also served as director of other St. Louis-based companies such as Ralcorp Holdings and Solutia Inc. He was lead director of Hanesbrands Inc. in Winston-Salem, N.C., as well.

There were 720 home sales in University City in 2008, with a median sales price of $150,000.
