Athletic lettering scion buys 4BD in Chesterfield

Robert J. Liebe III bought a four-bedroom, three bath at 1479 Country Lake Estates Dr. in Chesterfield for $745,000 from Stephen and Denise Juan and Deborah Juan on Jan. 30.

Deborah and Stephen Juan bought the 5,545 square foot home for $674,217 in Dec. 2000, the same year it was built.

Jeff Lottmann of Prudential Alliance real estate was the agent for the sale. The listed price was $769,777.

Mr. Liebe is a third-generation figure at the St. Louis-based R. J. Liebe Athletic Lettering Company, a mainstay in the St. Louis sports landscape since 1923. Mr. Liebe's grandfather, Robert Liebe Sr., founded the company and eventually created uniform designs for the St. Louis Browns and St. Louis Cardinals, as well as a number of colleges and teams in the American Basketball Association.

Mr. Liebe currently heads the lettering division of the company, which now manufactures letters for a number of professional sports franchises as well as collegiate and high school teams. He works with his brother Bill, who heads the fabric division of the company.
