Cheese makers buy historic home in Kirkwood

Alan and Lisa Hautly bought a four bedroom, 2.5 bath at 345 E. Argonne Dr. in Kirkwood for $725,000 from Tad Skelton on April 18.

Teri Nicely of Keller Williams Realty listed the 2,530 square foot home for $737,500.

The home was originally built in 1890 and restored in 2006. It was awarded the Best Residential Restoration for 2006 by the Kirkwood Landmark's Commission and is listed in the National Registry of Historic Places.

Mr. and Mrs. Hautly are third generation owners of the Hautly Cheese Company, a maker, distributor, wholesaler and broker of fine cheeses and other specialty grocery items.

According to the company's website, Hautly Cheese has been making and distributing its products in the St. Louis area since 1934.
