Dr. John P. Purcell and his wife, Elizabeth, sold their four-bedroom, three bath home at 16585 Baxter Forest Ridge Dr. in Chesterfield for $543,890 to SIRVA Relocation on Apr. 5.
SIRVA Relocation then sold the home for $544,500 to Timothy J. Rooney and Elaine Williams on Apr. 5.
The Purcells paid $432,000 in 2002 for the home, which was built in 1987.
Katie McDonald of Coldwell Banker Gundaker was the agent for the sale. The listed price was $559,000.
Dr. Purcell has served in a variety of roles for Saint Louis-based agricultural giant Monsanto Company, including a stint as the Global Lead of Scientific Affairs. He has also been the program leader of insect control for Ceregen, a unit of Monsanto. He was responsible for the discovery and development of new insect-control technologies for diverse crops.
Prior to joining Monsanto in 1989, Dr. Purcell was a posdoctoral researcher at the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He received his Ph.D. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (1987), and his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Washington and Lee University (1981).
