Former Washington University School of Medicine Professor Dr. Michael E. Cain and his wife, Margaret, sold their four-bedroom, four bath at 20 Spoede Ln. in Creve Coeur to for $537,500 Jeffrey Homes LLC on May 14.

Kimberly Carney of Coldwell Banker Premier Group was the agent for the sale. The listed price was $599,900.

Jeffrey Homes, a home builder in St. Louis, is tearing down the home currently on the property to build a new custom home.

Since Nov. 1, 2006, Dr. Cain has served as the Dean of the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo in New York. He was hired for the position on Aug. 16 following a lengthy medical career in St. Louis.

Dr. Cain previously served as the Director of the Cardiovascular Division and Tobias and Hortense Lewin Professor of Medicine at Washington University School of Medicine. He was also a professor of biomedical engineering at Washington University.

Dr. Cain joined the Washington University faculty in 1981 as an assistant professor of medicine. He eventually rose to a professor of medicine and was named the director of the Cardiovascular Division in 1993, and he became the Tobias and Hortense Lewin Professor of Medicine in 1994.

He has also been the President of the Board of Directors of the Heart Care Institute, as well as director of arrhythmia services for Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

He received his M.D. from George Washington University and did his postgraduate work at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and at the Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia.

Jeffrey Homes is a St. Louis-based home development company with other current projects at 4 Heather Hill Lane in Olivette and 4 Shardue Lane in Creve Coeur. The company was founded by Jeffrey Bernstein, a St. Louis native and former lawyer who received his J.D. from the Washington University School of Law. He received his bachelor's in Real Estate Finance from the University of Illinois.
