Former NFL defensive tackle sells in Wildwood

Former NFL player Larry Chester and his wife, Nicole, sold their four-bedroom, five bath at 19139 Hardt Rd. in Wildwood for $728,900 to Thomas and Marsalene Ruff on May 3.

The Chesters paid $667,640 for the home in Oct. 2005.

Tiffany Torrento and Suzanne Hunn of RE/MAX Exclusive were the agents for the sale. The 4,764 square foot home was sold for its listed price.

Mr. Chester, 32, played for seven seasons in the National Football League, most recently with the Miami Dolphins during his final season in 2004. The 6-foot-2, 325-pound Chester played defensive tackle played two full seasons for the Dolphins before his career was cut short early in his third year with the team when he suffered a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament in the second game of the 2004 season. He was eventually released by the team following the injury.

Mr. Chester signed a five-year contract with the Dolphins as a free agent in 2002 and eventually played 33 games with the team, registering 82 tackles and 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble during that time. Prior to signing with the Dolphins, played 11 games for the Carolina Panthers in 2001 before breaking his leg, and played three seasons with the Indianapolis Colts (1998-2000). He played in 89 games during his career, finishing with 198 career tackles and 8.5 sacks.

Mr. Chester was a second team All Big East selection during his senior year at Temple University in Philadelphia and finished his career with the Owls with 63 tackles and five sacks. He attended high school in his home town of Hammond, La.

According to the Miami Herald, Chester had a daughter in 2004 which he and his wife named Jádore Larya Chester. The name is French for "I Love Larry Chester."
