Ian Dobbins and Heather Rice bought a three-bedroom, two bath in University City at 728 Trinity Ave. for $323,000 from Carlos Granados Diaz and his wife, Nafonwyck, on Aug. 6.
Mr. and Mrs. Granados Diaz bought the home in June 2002 for $285,000.
Mr. Dobbins is an associate professor of psychology at Washington University.
He came to St. Louis after holding the post of assistant professor at Duke University in Raleigh-Durham, N.C., where he also ran the Dobbins Lab for Psychology and Neuroscience.
Professor Dobbins earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of California-Davis.
Ms. Rice is also employed at Washington University in the psychology department as a lecturer.
She earned her Ph.D. in Psychology and Brain Sciences from Duke University.
Home prices in University City are down 13 percent through July versus the same time period in 2006. According to BlockShopper Metrics, the median home sale price in 2006 was $189,000 while in 2007 it's $165,000.
While University City has been active this year - it's the fourth most active market in St. Louis County - there have been 99 fewer homes sold so far in '07 than in '06.
