Former professional hockey player and Chesterfield businessman Basil McRae and his wife, Jill, sold their four-bedroom, three bath at 1329 Bentley Place Dr. in Chesterfield for $758,000 to Miguel and Joyce Ugarte on Aug. 30.

The McRaes paid $470,394 for the home in June 1996, the same year it was built.

Larry Pately of RE/MAX Suburban real estate was the agent for the sale. The home was listed for $769,900.

Mr. McRae is the founder of Basil McRae and Associates, a Chesterfield-based financial services firm catering to professional athletes.

A professional athlete himself for 27 years, Mr. McRae has been a licensed securities broker since 1994 and doubles as an investment advisor representative and a licensed provider of life, disability and liability insurance.

Prior to founding the firm, Mr. McRae spent nearly three decades playing professional hockey, 18 of which were spent in the National Hockey League.

A left-winger originally from Beaverton, Ontario, he spent time with the Quebec Nordiques, Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota North Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, St. Louis Blues and Chicago Blackhawks.

He spent four seasons with the Blues, playing 112 games and scoring three goals in his time in St. Louis. He played in 11 games of the Blues' postseason run in the 1992-93 season.

While playing with the North Stars during the 1987-88 season he lead the NHL with 331 penalty minutes.

He is also a co-owner of the Canadian Hockey League's London Knights hockey team, for which his son Phillip plays center.

Mr. McRae also made a cameo appearance as himself in the 1992 Disney hockey motion picture The Mighty Ducks.

Chesterfield home sales have fallen 15 percent through July 2007 vs. the same period in 2006. The median price over that time period has also slipped $11,000 from $340,000 in 2006 to $329,000 so far this year.

Median sales prices have risen steadily in Chesterfield since BlockShopper Metrics began keeping track in 1999.
