Former Wash U surgeon sells in University City

Dr. David Deitz and his wife, Jill, sold their five-bedroom, four bath in University City at 7014 Lindell Blvd. for $648,000 to Peter Newcomb and his wife Janet on Aug. 21.

Karen Siegel of Laura McCarthy Real Estate originally listed the property as high as $715,000.

The Dietzes paid $359,000 for the 3,289 square foot home in Dec. 2001 and renovated it in 2004.

Dr. Dietz has served as Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine specializing in colon and rectal surgery.

He earned his M.D. from the Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pa. He completed residencies in general surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

According to BlockShopper Metrics, home sales in University City have slowed in 2007, down 12 percent through August versus the same time frame in 2006. Median sale prices are lower by 18 percent to $160,000 versus last year's median of $195,000.
