Real estate pro buys new construction in Webster Groves

Steven J. Caton and his wife, Jennifer, bought a four bedroom, 2.5 bath in Webster Groves at 328 E. Swon Ave for $467,500 from Summerfield Properties on Aug. 30.

Summerfield paid $175,000 for the property in Apr 2004.

Ann Farwell of Laura McCarthy's Clayton office listed the 2,560 square foot home for $499,900.

Mr. Caton has been in the real estate business for over 14 years, rehabbing, appraising and selling homes. He founded Caton Real Estate Appraisers in 1995 and Home Front Realty in 2002. He's also involved in buying and rehabbing old homes.

The Catons sold their previous home at 436 Algonquin Place in Webster Groves on Aug. 27.

Webster Groves home sales have fallen 15 percent through Aug. 2007 vs. the same period in 2006. The median price over that time period has ticked up to $215,000 from $212,000.

Median sales prices have risen steadily in Webster Groves since BlockShopper Metrics began keeping track in 1999.
