Solutia VP sells to food broker in Sappington

Paul J. Berra III and his wife, Rose, sold their four-bedroom, 3.5 bath in Sappington at 12523 Sunset Dr. for $525,000 to Otto A. Etzel III and his wife, Michelle, on Sept. 26.

The Berras paid $329,000 for the home in 1997.

Sue Bogdanovich of Re/Max Gold had the listing. The 3,150 square foot home is a two-story all-brick and is situated on a cul-de-sac. It was built in 1991.

Mr. Berra is Vice President of Government Affairs and Communications for Solutia Inc., a manufacturer of industrial materials.

An attorney by trade, Mr. Berra joined Solutia in 2003 as assistant general counsel concentrating in labor relations and employment law. He now is a liaison for the company's government affairs and public relations as well as internal communication programs.

Mr. Berra earned his J.D. from Saint Louis University after receiving a B.A. from Webster University.

Mr. Etzel works for the family business, O.E. Brokerage Co., a food brokerage business that was founded in 1974. He attended Missouri State University.

Home sales in Sappington are down 23 percent so far this year versus last. Though fewer homes have been sold, those that sold are bringing slightly higher prices. The median sale price is up nine percent to $182,000.

According to BlockShopper Metrics median sales prices in Sappington rose steadily from 1999 to 2002 before leveling off. The sale at 12523 Sunset Dr. was the second highest price paid for a home in Sappington this year.
