Saint Louis University biologist buys in Olivette

Dr. Wenyan Xiao and his wife, Hongmei Zhang, bought a three-bedroom, 1.5 bath at 58 Highgate Rd. in Olivette for $319,000 from Mary J. Callahan on Oct. 9.
Elizabeth Robb of Dielmann Sotheby's International Realty was the agent for the sale. The home was listed for $369,000 when it appeared on the market in July.
Dr. Xiao is an assistant professor in the Department of Biology at Saint Louis University. He teaches plant physiology and cellular and molecular genetics.
He received his Ph.D. from Ohio State University.
Olivette home sales have risen 10 percent through September 2007 vs. the same period in 2006. The median sale price in Olivette has also risen $40,000 over that period, from $225,000 to $265,000.
Median sales prices rose steadily in Olivette from 2002 to 2005 before dropping slightly in 2006, according to BlockShopper Metrics.
