Former St. Louis Blues defenseman Todd Ewen and his wife, Kelli, sold a three-bedroom, three bath at 638 Showplace Ct. in Ballwin for $219,900 to Leroy and Connie Grover and Marjorie Barnard on Oct. 8.

The Ewens paid $145,500 for the home on July 17.

Mr. Ewen, 41, played for 11 seasons from 1986-97 in the NHL, including his first four seasons in the league with the St. Louis Blues. Although he was drafted eighth overall in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers, he didn't make his NHL debut until the 1986 season with the Blues.

The native of Saskatchewan went on to play 124 games for the Blues, notching 10 goals and seven assists. He also logged four years with the Montreal Canadiens, three with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and one with the San Jose Sharks in the final year of his career, 1997. He played 518 career games and notched 76 points in the NHL and won a Stanley Cup with the Canadiens in 1993.

Mrs. Ewen is a real estate agent for RE/MAX in Chesterfield. Mr. Ewen also works for the company.

Home sales in Ballwin are down 19 percent so far this year compared with the same time frame in 2006. If this trend continues, it will be the fifth straight year in which the number of homes sold in Ballwin has declined. The median home sale price is down as well, off two percent to $222,000.
