Joe D. Jacobson bought a five-bedroom, 3.5 bath at 6301 Waterman Ave. in University City for $350,000 from William and Patricia Schiller on Nov. 13.

Carole Bernsen of Coldwell Banker Gundaker real estate was the agent for the sale. The home, which was built in 1910, was listed for $444,900 when it appeared on the market in May.

Jacobson is a partner and founder of the St. Louis law firm Green Jacobson & Butsch. He's been with the firm since it was founded in 1991, specializing in business and commercial tort litigation. He also works in commercial real estate law for the firm.

He also serves as the General Counsel to the Housing Authority of St. Louis County, a role he's held since 1998.

He earned his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law (1986).

Though University City has been the third most active market so far this year, according to BlockShopper Metrics, home sales are down 14 percent through September versus the same time frame in 2006. Median sale prices are lower by 24 percent to $145,000 versus last year's median of $195,000.

After a dip in 2000, median home sales prices in University City rose steadily before falling back again in 2004. A recovery in 2005 preceded a sharp drop in 2006.
