Steven J. Adamowski and his wife, Theresa, sold a four-bedroom, 2.5 bath at 1450 Frances Rd. in Kirkwood for $540,000 to Mark Tamar and his wife, Candia, on Nov. 9.

Bob Macrum of Strait Properties real estate was the agent for the sale. The home was listed for $549,000.

Mr. Adamowski is a professor of Education Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. He also sits on the Advisory Board for the National Council on Teacher Quality.

An accomplished leader in the education field, Adamowski was hired as the Superintendent of Hartford (Conn.) Public Schools in Nov. 2006. He previously served as the Superintendent and CEO of Cincinnati Public Schools from 1998-2002, and is a former Superintendent of Schools in Clayton.

The Connecticut native has also served as Superintendent of Schools in Norwich, Conn. and Chatham, N.J.

He earned his doctorate from St. Louis University and his bachelor's from Southern Connecticut State College.

Mr. Tamar is the Vice President of Entertainment and Event Marketing for the St. Louis Blues.

Kirkwood home sales have dropped 141 percent through September 2007 vs. the same period in 2006. The median price over that time period, however, has remained the same at $210,000.

Median sales prices in Kirkwood rose steadily from 1999 to 2005 before dropping in 2006, according to BlockShopper Metrics, which began keeping track in 1999.
