Leigh Shaheen bought a three-bedroom, three bath in Richmond Heights at 14 Thorndell Dr. for $377,000 from the trust of Michael M. Karl on Nov. 7.
The 2,567 square foot home was built in 1941.
Karl was a nationally renowned general internist and served as a professor of clinical medicine at Washington University.
He passed away at the age of 91 in Nov. 2006.
He established a long and distinguished medical career in St. Louis after earning his medical degree from the University of Louisville in 1938. He introduced the first needle biopsy of the liver in Missouri in 1946. He also went on to co-found the Maryland Medical Group and was instrumental in establishing the Jeff-Vander-Lou Medical Clinic that was one of the first in the area to offer health services for the poor.
Home sales in Richmond Heights are down about nine percent this year versus last. Median home sale prices are also lagging, down four percent or $9,000 to $216,000 through September.
According to BlockShopper Metrics median home sales have been rising steadily since 1999 before dipping slightly in 2006.
