Kathleen Wolin and her husband, Dylan, bought a three-bedroom, 2.5 bath at 541 Purdue Ave. in University City for $481,000 from David and Susan White on Nov. 27.

The Whites paid $449,000 for the property in July 2001.

Steven Lange of Edward L. Bakewell Inc. real estate was the agent for the sale. The home was listed for $589,000 when it appeared on the market in May.

Dr. Wolin is a behavioral epidemiologist and an assistant professor of general surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine. She is also an adjunct professor in the Department of Community Health at St. Louis University. She specializes her research on cancer prevention and control.

She earned her Sc.D. in Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health in 2005 and attended the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. She earned her bachelor's at Tufts University in Boston.

Mr. Wolin has served as a financial analyst at New York-based investment firm McManus & Miles. He completed his gradate work at the University of Pennsylvania and earned his bachelor's at Tufts.

The couple married in May 2004 in the Bahamas.

Home sales in University City dropped 13 percent through Nov. 30, 2007 vs. the same period in 2006. The median price over that time period also dropped $25,000, from $155,000 to $130,000.

According to BlockShopper Metrics, median home sales prices in University City rose steadily from 2000 until 2003 before dropping in 2004. Prices recovered in 2005 before slipping again in 2006.
