Heating and cooling company president buys in Town and Country

David J. LaGrand and his wife, Londa, sold their four-bedroom, 4.5 bath at 14318 Manderleigh Woods Dr. in Town and Country for $944,000 to Jonathan and Jennifer Stevens on Nov. 21.

The LaGrands paid $629,736 for the home in Aug. 1995.

Kathleen Lovett of Gladys Manion Inc. real estate was the agent for the sale. The home was listed for $999,000 when it appeared on the market in July.

Mr. LaGrand is the president and CEO of Nordyne Inc., a St. Louis-based company that manufactures HVAC equipment, furnaces, space heaters, domestic water heaters and offers residential and commercial air conditioning repair services. He was hired for the position in Jan. 2002.

He joined Nordyne in 1988 as the director of marketing and planning and was eventually promoted to president and chief operating officer of the company in 1997.

Prior to joining the company, he held positions at the York International Corporation, the Ford Motor Company and the Federal Mogul Corporation.

He earned his M.B.A. in Marketing from Michigan State University ('76) and his bachelor's in Business from Hope College in Michigan ('74).

Home sales in Town and Country dropped 21 percent through Nov. 30, 2007 vs. the same period in 2006. The median price over that time period, however, rose $25,000, from $640,000 to $665,000.

Median sales prices in Town and Country risen steadily since 2000, according to BlockShopper Metrics.
