Dr. Themistocles Dassopoulous and his wife, Catherine, bought a four-bedroom, three and a half bath at 1700 Mason Knoll Road in Town and Country from C. Alan Korthals and his wife, Susan B., for $600,000 on Jan. 29.

The Korthalses paid $515,000 for the home in Aug. 2002.

The 3,028 square foot home was built in 1986.

Dr. Dassopoulous is a gastroenterologist and co-director of the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Program at Washington University School of Medicine.

Prior to this, he was assistant professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He also served two years in the Greek Army.

Dr. Dassopoulous received his medical degree from Brown University. He completed his internal medicine residency at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston and his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Chicago.

Mr. Korthals is director of client support for Kaspick and Company, a firm specializing in corporate planned gift asset management. Prior to joining the company in 1997, he was manager of gift services for the First Church of Christ, Scientist. He also served as a past president of the Planned Giving Group of New England.

Mr. Korthals also serves on the Government Relations Committee of the National Committee on Planned Giving.

He earned his B.S. in Finance from the University of Texas.

Home sales in Town and Country dropped 21 percent in 2007. The median price, however, rose $25,000, from $640,000 to $665,000.

Median sales prices in Town and Country risen steadily since 2000, according to BlockShopper Metrics.
