Bruce Butterfield and his wife, Karin, sold their five-bedroom, four bath at 2479 White Stable Rd. in Town and Country for $840,000 to Fatima Siddiqui on Feb. 20.

The Butterfields paid $760,000 for the house in Aug. 2001.

Fran Faupel of Coldwell Banker Gundaker real estate was the agent for the sale. The home was listed for $899,000.

Mr. Butterfield is the CEO of VirtualEd Inc., an online educational assistance program.

He has also worked for Viacom/Simon and Schuster as the president of Prentice Hall Regents, the world's largest American-owned global publishing company specializing in English language instruction for preschool through adult education.

His career also includes stints with Pearson PLC, Golden Press and Scholastic Inc., where he served as a vice president and publisher.

He received his M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut (1977) and his master's in teaching from Harvard (1972). He earned his bachelor's in English from Amherst College (1971).

The Butterfields paid $549,000 for a four-bedroom, 3.5 bath at 14610 Mallard Lake Dr. in Chesterfield for $549,000 on Sept. 5, 2007.

Home sales in Town and Country dropped 21 percent in 2007. The median price, however, rose $25,000, from $640,000 to $665,000.

Median sales prices in Town and Country risen steadily since 2000, according to BlockShopper Metrics.
