Javier Leirado and his wife, Valerie Bettan, bought a four-bedroom, 4.5 bath at 17258 Jeffreys Crossing Lane in Chesterfield for $800,000 from Brad Fercho on March 6.

Fercho paid $250,000 for the property in 2000. The home was built in 2001.

Leirado is the president and CEO of Abengoa Energy, a global energy company focused on the production and development of bioethanol technologies. The company has corporate headquarters in St. Louis. He's held his current executive positions since 2002, but he first joined the company in 1991.

He earned his bachelor's in engineering management and a M.B.A. from the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain.

Fercho is the vice president of sales for the BrainScope Company, Inc., a Chesterfield-based company that develops hand-held electronic devices for the medical industry. He previously worked in the same role for Everest Biomedical, and he's also worked as the president of the medical imaging group at Mallinckrodt, another biomedical technology company.

He earned his bachelor's in marketing from Arizona State University.

Home sales in Chesterfield dropped 12 percent in 2007. The median sale price also dropped $1,000 last year, from $331,000 in 2006 to $330,000 in 2007.
