Donald L. Elbert and his wife, Shelly, bought a three-bedroom, 1.5 bath at 6350 San Bonita Ave. in Clayton for $702,200 from KDL Associates on March 5.
KDL paid $412,500 for the property in Jan. 2007.
Mr. Elbert is an assistant professor of biomedical engineering in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis. He specializes in cell and tissue engineering, proteomics and protein adsorption and drug delivery.
He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas-Austin (1997) and his bachelor's in chemical engineering from the University of Notre Dame ('90).
Mrs. Elbert is an associate professor of biomedical engineering at Washington University. She specializes in biomaterials, gene therapy and cell and tissue engineering.
She earned her Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the California Institute of Technology (2000) and her master's in chemical engineering from the school as well ('98). She earned her bachelor's in chemical engineering and biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology ('96).
Home sales in Clayton dropped 23 percent in 2007. The median sale price also dropped $16,000 last year, from $527,000 in 2006 to $511,000 in 2007.
