John Gatewood and his wife, Anne, sold their four-bedroom, two bath at 573 Oakhaven Lane in Creve Coeur for $470,000 to Christopher and Kali Jones on March 18.

The Gatewoods paid $280,000 for the home in 1998.

Christine Chartrand of Edward L. Bakewell real estate was the agent for the sale. The home was listed for $499,000 when it appeared on the market in November.

Mr. Gatewood is a wealth management advisor for insurance giant Northwestern Mutual. He covers the southern region for the company and is based in St. Louis.

Originally from Washington, D.C., he received his bachelor's in political philosophy from Georgetown University. He also attended Northwestern University, where he played on the Wildcats' men's soccer team.

Gatewood grew up next door to former president Lyndon Johnson during Johnson's tenure as vice president.

Home sales in Creve Coeur dropped five percent in 2007. The median sale price, however, rose $87,000 last year, from $250,000 in 2006 to $337,000 in 2007.
