Michael Cosmopoulos and his wife, Deborah, bought a four-bedroom, 3.5 bath at 13017 Mason Estates Ct. in Town and Country for $490,000 from Laura Rutherford on March 20.
Patrick McLaughlin of Prudential McLaughlin Realtors was the agent for the sale. The home was listed for $549,900.
Mr. Cosmopoulos is the chair of Greek studies and a professor of archaeology at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. His research interests include the social, political, and cultural history of ancient Greece.
Prior to joining the faculty at UM-St. Louis, he served as the professor of classics and the director of the Centre for Hellenic Civilization at the University of Manitoba in Canada.
He earned his Ph.D. and his master's from Washington University and his bachelor's from the University of Athens.
Mrs. Cosmopoulos has served as an adjunct professor of archaeology at Washington University and Webster University in St. Louis.
The two married in 1997.
Home sales in Town & Country dropped 17 percent in 2007. The median sales price rose by two percent, from $652,000 in 2006 to $665,000 in 2007.
