Dr. Phillip Alderson and his wife, Marjorie, bought a five-bedroom, 3.5 bath at 4 Doubletree Ln. in Des Peres for $620,000 from Joe and Louise Evans on March 26.

The 3,447 square foot home was built in 1979.

Ann Cordeal of Prudential Select Properties real estate was the agent for the sale. The home was listed for $659,000 when it appeared on the market in January.

Dr. Alderson is the dean of the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, and a nuclear medicine physician and general diagnostic radiologist whose work focuses on cardiac and pulmonary disorders. He was named to the SLU post on April 1.

He previously served as the chairman of the Department of Radiology at Columbia University in New York City, where he also served as a professor and as the director of the radiology service at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center.

Dr. Alderson earned his M.D. from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and his bachelor's from Washington University as well. He completed his residency in radiology and nuclear medicine at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at the Washington University School of Medicine.

Home sales in Des Peres rose nearly four percent in 2007. The median sale price, however, dropped $17,000 last year, from $370,000 in 2006 to $353,000 in 2007.
