Yehuda Ben-Shahar and his wife, Sarah M. Hartz, bought a four-bedroom, 2.5 bath at 7407 Stratford Ave. in University City for $515,000 from Paul J. D'Agrosa and his wife, Amy, on May 23.
The D'Agrosas previously paid $299,900 for the property in May 1999.
The 3,122 square foot house was built in 1926.
Mr. Ben-Shahar is an assistant professor of biology at Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to his current position, he was a post-doctoral associate at Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the University of Iowa.
He received his Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
D'Agrosa is a lawyer at Wolff and D'Agrosa, a law firm in Clayton.
He previously served as provisional municipal judge for University City, as municipal judge for Northwoods and Olivette and as a city prosecutor in Arnold.
He received his bachelor's and his J.D. from St. Louis University.
Home sales in University City are up 7.5 percent in 2008. The median sale price, however, is down from $160,000 to $129,000 so far this year.
