Marketing firm VP sells in University City

Rhett Hawkins and his wife, Jennifer, sold a three-bedroom, 1.5-bath home at 7482 Amherst Ave. in University City's University Terrace for $310,000 to Austin Gilbert and his wife, Maryna, on July 21.

The Hawkins paid $303,000 for the property in Dec. 2004.

The 1,630-square-foot house was built in 1929.

Mr. Hawkins has served as vice president and account director at Osborn & Barr, a full-service marketing firm that specializes in the agricultural and rural industry. The company maintains an office in St. Louis.

He graduated from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada.

Home sales in University City are up 7.5 percent in 2008 versus 2007. The median sale price, however, is down 19.3 percent, from $160,000 in 2007 to $129,000 so far this year.
