Monsanto regional director buys Ballwin 4BD

Duane J. Simpson and his wife, Lisa, bought a four-bedroom, 3.5-bath home at 578 Castle Ridge Dr. in Ballwin's Castle Pines for $435,000 from William M. Evans and his wife, Kristie, on July 25.

The Evans paid $333,500 for the property in December 2000.

The 3,342-square-foot house was built in 1996.

Mr. Simpson is a regional director of state and local government affairs at Monsanto Co., an agricultural biotechnology corporation headquartered in Creve Coeur. He is responsible for keeping track of state legislative operations impacting Monsanto's business in Missouri, Kansas, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

He previously served as chief operating officer and vice president for the Kansas Grain and Feed Association. Prior to that, he held several positions in government, including chief of staff for the Kansas House Majority Leader and the Kansas Speaker Pro Tem.

Mr. Simpson graduated from Fort Hays State University.

Home sales in Ballwin are down almost 28 percent thus far in 2008. The median sales price has dropped from $218,000 in 2007 to $215,000 so far this year.
