Dr. Carlos B. Mizrachi and his wife, Dr. Ana M. Arbelaez, bought a three-bedroom, 2.5-bath home at 6912 Waterman Ave. in University City's Ames Place from Harold E. Schafer, Jr., and his wife, Loretta, for $407,000 on Oct. 8.

The 2,408-square-foot house was built in 1921.

Dr. Mizrachi is an internist who sees patients at the Center for Advanced Medicine in St. Louis. His clinical interests include endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. In addition to his clinic work, he also serves as an assistant professor at the division of endocrinology, metabolism and lipid research at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Dr. Mizrachi received his M.D. from Universidad del Valle School of Medicine in Cali, Colombia, where he also completed a part of his internal medicine residency. He finished his residency at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital and his fellowship in endocrinology at Washington University School of Medicine, Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Dr. Arbelaez is a hospitalist at St. Louis Children's Hospital, where she specializes in pediatric endocrinology, diabetes and cystic fibrosis.

Dr. Arbelaez received her M.D. from Universidad del Valle School of Medicine as well and completed both her residency and fellowship at Washington University.
