Top NFL agent buys $1.5M Ladue 5BD

Thomas J. Condon bought a five-bedroom, 4.5-bath home at 99 Oakleigh Lane in Ladue for $1.5 million from Philip G. Delano and Mary Engelbreit on Sept. 22.

Delano and Engelbreit paid $1.45 million for the 5,110-square-foot home in Aug. 1999.

The property was listed for as much as $1.849 million.

In 2006, Condon was named the most powerful agent in the NFL by The Sporting News. His list of clients include former NFL MVPs Peyton Manning and LaDanian Tomlinson, as well as Super Bowl XLII MVP Eli Manning.

Condon was an offensive lineman with the Kansas City Chiefs from 1974-1984, before closing out his NFL career as a member of the New England Patriots in 1985. He earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore and began representing players while he was still in the league.

Condon also served as president of the NFL Players Association from 1984-1986.

A St. Louis native, Engelbreit made her fortune through the design and distribution of her signature line of greeting cards, calendars, gift wrap and a wealth of other products bearing her artwork.

She began her career selling greeting cards locally before founding her own company in University City in 1983. Since then, the company has grown to 12 retail stores, started its own national magazine and licensed over 6,000 products ranging from dinnerware to crafts booklets available nationwide.

There have been 146 home sales in Ladue in 2008, with a median sales price of $742,000.
