Retired museum director sells 3BD in Skinker Heights

Dr. Mark S. Weil and Phoebe Dent Weil sold a three-bedroom, 4.5-bath home at 7 University Lane in Clayton to Washington University for $1,663,333 on Dec. 9.

The 5,119-square-foot house, which was built in 1926, is in Skinker Heights.

Dr. Weil is a retired director of the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum at Washington University, where he also taught art history. He is considered an expert on the art of sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini.

He has also served as director of the Sam Fox Arts Center and the Washington University Gallery of Art. He has contributed his expertise on the bestselling Dan Brown book Angels and Demons.

Ms. Weil works for Florence, Mass.-based Northern Light Studio, which she helped build.

She has also taught undergraduate courses and offered workshops at Washington University. She has served on the board of the Opera Theater of Saint Louis.

There have been 182 sales in Clayton in 2008 with median sales price of $487,538.
