Decorating Large Rooms in St. Louis, Missouri

by Ted Wight published Feb. 5, 2011

Recently I read an article that discussed how to decorate a huge room. Whether it is a mansion in the CWE of St. Louis, a newer estate home with a two-story great room or a home with a large open living area....these spaces can be hard to decorate.

Here are some tips from the article:

-create a "can touch and feel" atmosphere using texture and the arrangement of furniture
-repeat the colors used to other portions of the house
-add decorative moldings
-hang large chandeliers
-cluster your seating arrangements
use three rugs in an extra long room instead of one gigantic rug
-add full-length draperies
-pick out darker/richer paint colors
-use tall wainscoting and extra-wide chair rails that are a different color than the walls
-select higher-backed sofas, larger art and taller lamps
