Pulitzer Prize winning poet Howard Nemerov owned this house in 1991 when he passed away. He was former poet laureate of the United States. Nemerov was also a teacher at Washington University from 1969 to 1990. The Collected Poems of Howard Nemerov won the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1978.
