Edmund Wuerpel lived in this house from 1914 to 1920. He was an artist who was well known for his atmospheric landscapes. Wuerpel was also Dean of the Washington University School of Fine Arts from 1909 to 1938. He studied in Paris with Jean Leon Gerome and James Whistler. Wuerpel passed away in 1958.
