International Shoe Co. director and scion of the founding family Frank Rand owned this house. During the 1920's Washington Ave. was known as "Shoe Street U.S.A." and did more trade in the shoe business than any other street in the world. International Shoe Company was the biggest shoe company in the world. Rand headed the company from 1916 to 1947 and was resposible for the tremendous growth during the 20's. He passed away in 1949. The International Shoe Co. Building on Washington Ave. is now occupied by The City Museum.
