Johnny Sturm played in 124 games for the New York Yankess in 1941 and had six hits in 21 at bats against the Brooklyn Dodgers in that year's World Series. Sturm's playing career was cut short by World War II, but he went on to manage the Joplin Miners and in 1949 persuaded the Yankees to take a look at a young Mickey Mantle. Sturm lived in this home until his death in 2004.
